DART is taking its See Something, Say Something initiative to the next level with a new app, “DART Say Something.” The new tool allows people to anonymously and discreetly report incidents on the agency’s buses and trains. A drop-down menu allows riders to select the type of activity they wish to report, as well as the location. Customers can submit photos and video, and there is a notes field that allows them to type any additional information before hitting “send report.” Two-way communication allows police dispatchers to request further details and allows riders to respond to alerts they receive. “Many people are afraid to call the police during a situation, but no one pays attention if you are typing on your smartphone,” DART Police Chief James Spiller said. “The DART Say Something app allows customers to send updates to dispatchers on what’s happening without being noticed. Having instant, detailed information from witnesses on the scene will help us resolve incidents faster.” The free DART Say Something app by ELERTS is available for iPhone and Android devices in the App Store and on Google Play.
