It’s the spacey convention’s first time in Dallas. There will be sci-fi authors, scientists, and filmmakers. Of course, experts will discuss the theory that extraterrestrials have visited Earth. And Saturday night, there’s a costume contest. Even if you don’t win, you can freak out your fellow passengers on the Red or Blue Line while you’re on your way to Convention Center Station. Who knew aliens were such avid users of public transportation? Chicago The Musical: In Concert also starts tonight and runs through Sunday. It’s a symphonic experience of the popular musical, with the full Dallas Symphony Orchestra (along with singers) performing show's music. Expect to hear all your favorites at this concert conducted by Rob Fisher at the Meyerson Symphony Center, about a 7-minute walk from Pearl/Arts District Station on all four DART Rail lines. Saturday, Oct. 5 Dracula is in the first weekend of its run, which extends until Oct. 27. Theatre 3’s fresh take on the time-tested classic tells the tale through the eyes of the vampire's mistress. There are plot twists and Romanian folklore aplenty, and the venue – located in the Quadrangle on Routh Street – is easily accessible by the M-Line Trolley. At barely 20 years old, the Mexican singer-songwriter already has enjoyed considerable success, with his catchy, ranchera-flavored “Adios Amor” hitting No. 1 in Mexico and No. 4 in the U.S. Latin market. The venue’s about a 9-minute walk from the Orange Line’s Irving Convention Center Station. Free First Saturdays happens at the Nasher Sculpture Center today.
