State Fair of Texas
Hispanic culture is a big part of Texas. And when you’re at the State Fair of Texas, you’ll get some great opportunities to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, which began Sept. 15 and runs through Oct. 15. Check out these fun fair events:
¡Fiestas de Marionettas! is a mini village of more than 85 marionettes that come to life in a profusion of color, culture and creativity. You’ll find it at McDonald’s Amphitheater.
Casa de Chocolate is presented by Mundo Latino at the Women’s Museum. The exhibit offers a fascinating look at the history of everyone’s favorite confection – along with demonstrations and classes. And, of course, you’ll get the chance to indulge in some fantastic chocolate!
If you go to the Fair on Sept. 29, check out the Chevrolet Main Stage. Latin chart-toppers
La Maquinaria Norteña will be performing their unique take on classic norteño music. Stop by at 5:30 p.m. to enjoy their crowd-pleasing mix of modern and traditional sounds.
And while you’re out and about on DART, stop by Westmoreland Station on the Red Line. The art and design of the Oak Cliff transit stop was inspired by Spanish colonial-era architecture as found throughout Mexico, with colorful tile work and paving designs.
There are lots of opportunities to celebrate Hispanic culture in North Texas. Discover more at DART.org/DARTable.
