Trains in outer space! Hot-air balloons carrying buses! Aliens in downtown Dallas!
There's about a week left to view scenes like these at Dallas Love Field, which is displaying the winning artworks from
DART’s 2018 Student Art Contest through the end of June.
Glass display cases between security and baggage claim showcase 100 original pieces of artwork from K-12 students from throughout North Texas. Students artistically captured the 2018 theme, "Oh, the Places DART Goes," and the artwork reflects the artists’ perspective on DART.
Doreen Chen, a 10th grader from Jasper High School in Plano ISD, won the "Best of Show" award in the competition. In addition to a $1,000 cash prize, Chen received the honor of seeing her artwork on the exterior of select DART buses.
The Love Field exhibit will have run for six weeks, and the airport estimates about 450,000 visitors will pass by the display.
DART next will showcase select artworks in the lobby of the
Courtyard Theater, near Downtown Plano Station. The exhibit runs July 9-Aug. 6 and the lobby is free to visit.
