Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) is delivering tons more food to the
Union Gospel Mission as part of the agency’s 18th annual “Friendly Food Fight.”
The fun competition held the first two weeks in December saw employees and agency consultants collect more than seven tons of food along with cash donations totaling $8,800. The total contributed by DART’s annual food collection since 1996 now stands at 417,742 pounds or more than 208 tons along with $64,800 in cash. The combined weight of the food collected over the years equals eleven of DART’s 40-ft buses.
Since 1949 the Union Gospel Mission has addressed the needs of Dallas area homeless by providing food, beds, clothing and shelter to men, women and children.
