Occasionally, DART is called upon to help out local communities in very special circumstances. This week had once of those circumstances that was captured by local media and tweets.
Early Wednesday, a five-alarm fire killed two and injured six at an apartment complex for seniors in northeast Dallas. We're deeply sorry for the losses and injuries, but glad we could help evacuated residents star warm and eventually be transported. DART provided two buses to be used during the rescue and evacuation of the apartment complex in Dallas.
Tim Newby, DART's Vice President of Transportation, says DART is occasionally asked by local fire and police departments to provide buses during the cold-weather season to keep evacuated residents and firefighters out of the elements. It's just another service DART provides to the communities it serves.
