As we look back on DART's 40-year history, we celebrate both our early years and our more recent accomplishments.
Highland Park and University Park residents were among the thousands that went to the polls to vote in favor of a one-cent local sales tax on August 13, 1983 – the measure that created DART. In 2013, the agency began offering DART On-Call service, a reservation-based neighborhood shuttle service, that provided transportation in Highland Park and University Park.
In 2023, Highland Park and University Park are represented on the DART Board of Directors by Vice Chair Gary A. Slagel, who also represents Addison and Richardson. Today, the Park Cities GoLink zone provides convenient on-demand service to work and play destinations throughout Highland Park and University Park, including spots such as the Inwood Village and Highland Park Village shopping centers. The service also connects riders to the DART Rail System at SMU/Mockingbird Station. In addition to GoLink, Bus Route 237 provides service within the Park Cities.
