The first day of school is quickly approaching and many North Texas families are looking forward to saving money on back-to-school supplies and clothing this tax-free weekend.
This year’s sales tax holiday is Aug. 11-13. According to the Texas comptroller
website, qualifying items priced less than $100 are exempt from taxes. This includes most clothing items such as dresses and blouses to jeans and button-down shirts. Almost all standard school supplies also are tax-exempt, including paper, folders, journals, pens, pencils and calculators.
