In the largest deployment of its kind by a public transit agency, Dallas Area Rapid Transit is committed to bringing innovative technology and services to North Texas with the installation of more than 300 new interactive digital kiosks over the next two years.

DART will launch the first kiosks at three different locations, starting with the Martin Luther King Jr. Station/JB Jackson Jr. Transit Center on Feb. 12, 2020.

“DART’s commitment to innovation is underscored by this deployment and its support of North Texas’ growth economically and as a smart-city-making technology available to everyone, regardless of community or economic status,” said Nevin Grinnell, Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer for DART. “We believe that both public transit and technology should be easy to access, and these kiosks put DART and our cities on the forefront of innovation while making it easier to discover and enjoy all that our communities have to offer.”

DART’s new interactive kiosks allow residents and visitors to discover and rediscover North Texas with:

  • Real-time information to enhance the overall travel experience
  • Localized and customized deals from area merchants and partners
  • Engaging social elements
  • Free, fast and reliable WiFi throughout the DART system
  • Interactive guides to find things to do, places to go and deals along the way
  • Easy access to social services
  • Translation in nine different languages
  • Enhanced safety with additional, high-resolution cameras, increased lighting and fast connections to DART police

In addition to technological advancements, the kiosks simplify the way riders utilize the DART System while providing new opportunities to engage with community partners, local merchants and local events.

Working with a variety of local partners such as Ericsson and Parsec Technologies, Inc., as well as national partners such as Landmark Infrastructure Partners LP (NASDAQ: LMRK), the DART kiosks are operated under the CityPost brand by Smart City Media. The kiosks represent a rich compute environment that will enable high-speed internet access while connecting riders to more opportunities throughout the region. The kiosks also will make it easier than ever before to take advantage of the most powerful technological capabilities available from a public transit agency in the country and feature the highest standards for encryption and identity protection.
