There are couple of great, DARTable ways to do this, as well as everything else you’d expect a three-day weekend to hold in store: concerts, exhibits, even a free outdoor family movie. Friday, May 25 All weekend long – from May 24 to 29, actually – Reunion Tower gives A Summer Salute to the Military. If you’re active military or a veteran, you’ll get $5 off your ticket – just show up in uniform or bring your ID. Up on the GeO-Deck, you can get 360-degree views of Dallas, enjoy interactive exhibits and take photos aplenty. Reunion Tower is accessible via a pedestrian tunnel from Union Station; you can get there on the Red or Blue lines, the Trinity Railway Express (no Sunday service), Dallas Streetcar or D-Link (Bus Route 722). Jazzy harmonies and caustic lyrics made Steely Dan an unlikely hitmaker in the 1970s. But their songs sure were catchy.  You’re sure to recognize many of them when Steely Dan plays The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory on Friday night. One half of the original duo died less than a year ago, but Donald Fagen carries the torch admirably.  Popular 70s radio mainstays The Doobie Brothers open. Saturday, May 26 Rowlett honors the brave men and women who have served, at the city’s Memorial Day Celebration featuring Touch-A-Truck in the Rowlett Community Centre. Citizens, friends and family will pay special homage to fallen soldiers at 10 a.m.; an hour later, the Touch-A-Truck event begins. This is a fun opportunity for kids of all ages to explore more than 25 trucks: a fire truck, an ambulance, an 18-wheeler, and more. In the case of inclement weather, the event will be held on Monday, May 28. The Rowlett Community Centre is an approximately one-mile walk east from Downtown Rowlett Station on the Blue Line. For a different kind of exploring, hit the Deep Ellum Mimosa Walk, a sip-and-shop event taking place from noon to 3 p.m. Check out all the street art, music venues, restaurants, and shopping that make this neighborhood a Dallas icon. You’ll get a souvenir glass, a map, and samplings of mimosas at each participating shop. The starting point is outside Life of Riley at 2814 Main St., a three-and-a-half block walk from the Green Line’s Baylor University Medical Station. This Saturday’s edition of Carrollton’s Movies On the Square features Despicable Me 3, in which Gru meets his long-lost twin brother Dru, who wants to team up for one last heist. The minions’ quest to take over the world screens at sunset. Take the Green Line to Downtown Carrollton Station to get there, and walk a few blocks to the 1100 block of South Broadway; you’ll want to bring a picnic blanket or lawn chairs. Sunday, May 27 Honor Irving veterans at a Memorial Day Service hosted by the Veterans Memorial Park Committee. The ceremony takes place at 2:30 p.m. in the Former Irving Central Library Auditorium. After a patriotic musical performance by the Silvertones, a ceremony will be held in the adjoining Veterans Memorial Park. You can get there via DART Bus routes 401, 408, 501 and 549. Today’s the last day of the Dallas Museum of Art’s terrific exhibition, Paris at the Turn of the Century. Whether depicting Paris's broad avenues or dazzling nightlife, artists were drawn to capturing everyday life in the city in the late 19th century. This collection of works on paper celebrates the French capital through the works of Pierre Bonnard, Edgar Degas, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Jacques Villon and many more. Take any DART Rail line to St. Paul Station and walk a few blocks north; you can also catch the D-Line (Route 722) or M-Line Trolley to get there. Monday, May 28 Memorial Day Veterans' Event honors our nation's veterans at the Garland Senior Center. The free special day includes USO-style entertainment, the dedication of a plaque commemorating the Korean Conflict, informational booths and more. The event is hosted by the Noon Exchange Club of Garland. Get there by taking the Blue Line to Downtown Garland Station, then getting on DART Bus Route 486. Get off at Avenue A and 7^th.
