DART: Your Ride This Weekend
From hot-rods to music, foodie delights to prehistoric predators, this weekend offers a wide array of entertainment. Check out these fun happenings, and of course, take DART to get there. If you do, feel free to share your experience in the comments.

You know it’s summer when Taste of Dallas arrives. The popular summertime food festival has something for everyone – more than 200 vendors, exhibitors, chefs, restaurants and exhibitors, plus live music and other attractions. It kicks off Friday and runs all weekend, indoors and out, at Gas Monkey Live. To get there, take the Green Line or Orange Line to Bachman Station, then catch Bus Route 528.
In the mood for a cool summer concert in the park? Every Friday night throughout the summer, the Addison Summer Series has one. Tonight, Warehouse, a Dave Matthews tribute band, takes the stage at Addison Circle Park – a short walk from Addison Transit Center, served by numerous bus routes.
Friday through Sunday, see some great theater in Garland. In the classic My Fair Lady, Professor Henry Higgins bets a colleague that in six months he can transform the low-born Eliza Doolittle into a proper lady. Packed with musical standards, the show is at the Granville Arts Center, right next to Downtown Garland Station on the Blue Line.
Get your fresh veggies for the weekend and mix it up with local ranchers, farmers and artisans at the Farmer’s Market at CityLine, happening in the development’s main square. Pick up some honey, desserts, bread, jams and salsa, as well as jewelry, candles, and other stuff; afterwards, check out one of the many restaurants at CityLine. Take the Red Line to CityLine/Bush Station to get there.
Friday is Clean Air Action Day. Air North Texas, a regional partnership that advocates for improving air quality in North Texas, encourages you to do at least one thing to help achieve that goal. If you ride DART today, you can check that off your list!
You also can check out DART’s new electric buses, which are a definite win in the clean-air department, at the city of Dallas’ event. A bus will be on display at City Hall from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. City Hall is near Convention Center Station.

Ultimate Dinosaurs opens today! The highly anticipated exhibit at the Perot Museum of Nature unveils a newly discovered breed of dinosaurs. It's fascinating stuff, for sure; highlights include 15 dinosaur casts, more than a dozen prehistoric specimens, and lifelike recreations of the dinosaurs in the flesh. Take any DART Rail line to Akard Station and take a short walk to get there.

Want to check out some hot rods and motorcycles for a good cause? The Headrush HotRod & Motorcycle Show at the Bomb Factory benefits Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. It’s only a $1 donation at the door, but you can be more generous if you like. The Bomb Factory is near Deep Ellum Station on the Green Line.
