Friday, November 10

The annual Dallas Veterans Day Parade features veterans, active duty troops and ROTC groups joined by marching bands and cheerleaders. The event begins with an 11 a.m. ceremony in City Hall Plaza. The parade route will wind from Reunion Park through downtown and ends back at Dallas City Hall. This year the parade theme is "Honoring Veterans of the Gulf War: Desert Shield & Desert Storm." Dallas City Hall is a short walk from Convention Center Station.

In Irving, the Veterans Day Ceremony takes place at the former Central Library Auditorium, 801 W. Irving Blvd. There will be music, moments of reflection by military personnel and remarks by city officials. Attendees then will convene at Veterans Memorial Park to add a wreath to the Wall of Commemoration. You can get there by riding the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) to Downtown Irving/Heritage Crossing Station, then a short walk or Bus Route 408.

This weekend is the last chance to see Dracula The Musical at the Granville Arts Center in Garland. Set in Europe at the end of the Victorian Age, the story follows the famed vampire as he does his thing – which mostly involves thirsting for new blood. Are the play’s other characters any match for Dracula's natural charm (not to mention his supernatural powers)? Find out. The theater is right next to Downtown Garland Station.

Saturday, November 11 

A concert on the square in Historic Downtown Carrollton – dubbed Vibes for Vets – will feature music from the Jimmy Lee Jordan Band. The event is a great way to remember military members and their service to the country. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets and money for the food truck. The downtown square is close to Downtown Carrollton Station.

In Rowlett, a Veterans Day Ceremony will recognize and honor local veterans at the Rowlett Community Centre, which is about a 1 mile walk from Downtown Rowlett Station.

Index Fest is the new iteration of the craft beer celebration formerly known as the Untapped Festival. Go to Fair Park to enjoy a day of beer – more than 300 of them, from 80 different brewers – plus music, food and art. Fair Park is accessible from both Fair Park and MLK, Jr. stations.
