Friday, Oct. 12

Apparition Expedition, a ghost tour of Plano’s historic past, sure sounds cool and creepy – maybe that’s why it sold out both nights (Friday and Saturday). However, you can still go to the free after-party both evenings in McCall Plaza. There will be live music and a bar, and you can still get your paranormal fix. McCall Plaza is a short block from Downtown Plano Station on the Red Line.

Irving Concert Series continues with a performance from the Vinyl Stripes, a local rockabilly and surf band. Get ready for some serious twang and reverb at Whistlestop Plaza, near Downtown Irving/Heritage Crossing Station on the Trinity Railway Express (TRE). Of course, there will be food trucks at the show, which runs from 7 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 13

Fall Main Street Marketis a cool autumn event in the Village of Rowlett. The lineup includes a vendor fair with local artisans, food trucks and more. Main Street businesses and restaurants will all be open, and there will be fun activities, as well. As an extra seasonal treat, family-friendly scarecrows will make their debut along Main Street. If you can’t make it to the market, they will be on display through Nov. 3 The Village of Downtown Rowlett is a short walk from the Blue Line’s Downtown Rowlett Station.

Walk to End Alzheimer’s is for walkers of all ages and abilities. There’s a 5K course and a one-mile short route. It’s all to raises awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s disease. The walk starts at 8 a.m. in Dallas City Hall Plaza, near Convention Center Station on the Red and Blue lines.

A Season of Family and Friends is part of Fine Arts Chamber Players' free concert series at the Dallas Museum of Art. The area's top musicians will perform, including prominent members of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra (DSO), the Dallas Opera Orchestra, and the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. The season kicks off Saturday with DSO concertmaster Alexander Kerr joined by DSO pianist Anastasia Markina. The free concerts begin at 3 p.m. You can get to the museum on the D-Link, the M-Line Trolley or by taking a short walk from Pearl/Arts District Station – all four DART Rail lines serve this station.

Farmers Branch Market features local vendors who are passionate about eating fresh, eating local and being a part of the community. The market takes place from 5 to 8 p.m. under a canopy of trees at the Grove at Mustang Crossing, near Farmers Branch Station on the Green Line.

DFW Archives Bazaar is a great way to hone your history skills. You can interact with archivists, museum curators, librarians and history professionals from area universities, libraries and museums. They’ll teach you how to preserve and digitize rare material, conduct oral histories and more. The event is from 1-5 p.m. at Dallas Heritage Village. Take DART’s Red Line to Cedar Station and it’s a short walk away.

Shakespeare in the Park has its last performances of the season this weekend. This year, Shakespeare Dallas presents Othello. It’s the story of an army general and the spiteful villain who sabotages him. Love, jealousy, race, revenge – it all comes alive at Addison Circle Park, just steps from Addison Transit Center.
