Soak up the perfect weather –  uh, maybe we should say bask in the perfect weather – at these DARTable, outdoor events. You can also catch an amazing exhibit and a comedy superstar.

Thursday, Oct. 25

Uptown Block Party takes place from 6-11 p.m. in Griggs Park, and features a free concert by Bowling for Soup. There are also food trucks, beverages, games and other fun things. The park is on Hugo Street in the State-Thomas neighborhood – just south of Hall and Central Expressway. Street parking is pretty tight around there, so transit is definitely the way to go. Bus Route 36 stops at the park shortly after departing southbound from Cityplace/Uptown Station. It’s also a short and pleasant walk from the M-Line Trolley’s stop at McKinney and Allen.

Friday, Oct. 26-Saturday, Oct. 27

Kevin Hart comes to town with his popular standup act. The Real Husbands of Hollywood and Night School star, known for his outsized personality, is performing a two-night run at the American Airlines Center. The big-time comedian calls this outing “The Irresponsible Tour.” You can get there responsibly by taking the Green Line to Victory Station, which is right at the venue.

Saturday, Oct. 27

Harambee Festival is the oldest African American event in North Texas. It’s been around since the early ’70s, and draws a crowd of around 15,000. The unusual word is Swahili for “unity,” and that’s what the festival is all about. In fact, this year’s theme is “Unity in the Community.” There are concerts, storytelling, African drumming and dancing, a balloon release, exhibits, food trucks, vendors and games for kids. The event happens at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center, about three blocks from MLK, Jr. Station on the Green Line. Bus routes 11, 26 and 409 also will get you there.

Movies on the Square in Downtown Carrollton has a Halloween-themed evening lined up, with pumpkin painting and a pumpkin giveaway at 6:30, followed by an 8 p.m. screening of Hotel Transylvania 2. It’s all free, and it’s all a short walk from the Green Line’s Downtown Carrollton Station.

Halloween in the Park is a trick-or-treater’s delight, with trick-or-treat stations, carnival games, bounce houses, a haunted hedge and stage entertainment. The event takes place from 5-8 p.m. at Farmers Branch Historical Park, less than a half-mile walk from Farmers Branch Station.

Ultimate Dinosaurs at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science lives up to its name. The exhibit unveils a newly discovered breed of dinosaurs. Highlights include 15 dinosaur casts, touchable fossils, and lifelike recreations of the fearsome creatures in the flesh. Adults will be just as amazed as kids. If you haven’t caught this yet, go today! To get there, catch any DART Rail line to Akard or West End station, and walk a few blocks north.
