The weekend has lots of family-friendly events, including a block party and a pumpkin-fest. Not to mention the last weekend of the State Fair of Texas! Check out the DARTable offerings: 

Friday, Oct. 20 

The third Friday of the month means 'til Midnight at the Nasher – and this is the last one of the season. As usual, there will be a live outdoor concert and a film screening. There are also social media scavenger hunts, progressive tours, and, of course, the greatness of the Nasher collection. Wolfgang Puck Catering offers bar services, snacks and tacos, which are pretty great, too. Charley Crockett takes the stage at 7 p.m., and the film – 2011’s Super 8 – starts at 9 p.m. It’s free!

The Nasher is a short walk from Pearl/Arts District Station and also is accessible via D-Link, Route 722.

Rockin’ the Square – a Historic Block Party is a celebration in Downtown Garland featuring live music, food and fireworks. The occasion: Downtown Garland’s listing in the National register of Historic Places. Entertainment will be provided by the tongue-in-cheek Mullet Boyz, as well as the country-rock outfit Old Southern Moonshine Revival. The event will also feature the official unveiling of the National Register Plaque. Take the Blue Line to Downtown Garland Station to join the fun.

Pumpkins on the Plaza is a free family-fun event at Dallas City Hall Plaza. There will be costume contests for kids and pets, arts and crafts, inflatables, face painting, entertainment, hay rides, and more.  Food will be available for purchase, as well. It’s all a short walk from Convention Center Station. 

Sunday, Oct. 22 

It’s the last day of the State Fair of Texas! Celebrating 131 years of tradition, the fair means midway rides, fried food, tons of expositions and, of course, Big Tex. It should mean beautiful fall weather this Sunday, as well. If you haven’t been yet this year, this is your last chance! Catch the Green Line to Fair Park Station.
