IRVING'S ON STAGE AT HERITAGE PERFORMANCE CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER
Due to the winter weather affecting Irving, Friday's opening On Stage at Heritage performance has been canceled.

---------------------------------------

St. Patrick's Day festivities run throughout the weekend, both along Dallas' Greenville Avenue and throughout North Texas

If your tastes run more toward performances and exhibits, you’re in luck, too.  Check out this weeks run-down of DARTable happenings.

Thursday, March 10-Friday, March 11

Elton John, as they say, needs no introduction. The prolific hitmaker ruled the charts in the ’70s and is a bona fide legend. For two nights, he brings his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour to the American Airlines Center. The performance is a big production, as you might expect, taking fans on a musical and visual journey through a storied career half a century in the making. Get to the AAC by taking the Green Line, Orange Line or Trinity Railway Express (TRE) to Victory Station.

Friday, March 11

On Stage at Heritage kicks off the season with a live performance by Chaz Marie, an eclectic entertainer whose influences span R&B, country and rock and roll. The music happens from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in Heritage Park, a short walk from Downtown Irving/Heritage Crossing Station on the Trinity Railway Express (TRE).

Something Rotten! is Garland Civic Theatre’s regional premiere of a play about two brothers who struggle to succeed in theater while competing with a wildly popular contemporary – one William Shakespeare. Friday is opening night; performances run through March 19 at the Granville Arts Center, right next to Downtown Garland Station on the Blue Line.

Saturday, March 12

Dallas Mavs St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival is here! Colorful floats, fake Irish accents and green beer are all givens on this, arguably Dallas’ biggest part day. The fun all happens within walking distance of SMU/Mockingbird Station; DART will be running extra service to accommodate all the eventgoers. Check out our recent blog post for more details.

Afterward, you can hit the Lower Greenville Block Party, where you’ll find live music, plenty of food and beverage, and tons of cheerful folks getting their Irish on. There’s even a free shuttle from SMU/Mockingbird Station.

To celebrate in a more family-centric atmosphere, take the A-train (Denton County Transportation Authority’s commuter rail line) to Old Town Station in Lewisville for St. Paddy’s Texas Style. You’ll find traditional Irish music along with Texas-style country, plus lots of carnival-style attractions and activities. Celtic-rock band Rathmore headlines the event, which takes place from 1-8 p.m. at Wayne Ferguson Plaza. To get to the A-train, take DART’s Green Line to Trinity Mills Station and transfer. Wayne Ferguson Plaza is a few blocks away from Old Town Station.

Through March 20

With two weeks carved out for Spring Break, the Perot Museum of Nature and Science has North Texas families covered with camps, 3D films, LEGO® fun, STEM activities and more, through March 20. As we’ve come to expect from the Perot Museum, there are tons of cool interactive activities.

Plus, it’s the final weeks to see Towers of Tomorrow with LEGO® Bricks , which closes April 24. See 20 iconic skyscrapers from across the globe constructed with than half a million of the toy bricks. The architectural marvels are constructed by Ryan McNaught, one of only 21 LEGO certified professionals in the world.

The Perot Museum is a few blocks from Akard Station on all four DART Rail lines.
