It’s a big weekend in Dallas, with the biggest St. Patrick’s celebration in the Southwest taking place within steps of the DART Rail system. There are also many unique theatrical performances going on this weekend, all of them DARTable. Read on to find out what the weekend has in store.

Friday, March 14

Adam Ray brings his comedy to Dallas with a version of his digital series, Dr. Phil Live! Catch him at the Majestic Theatre, a very short walk from St. Paul Station on all four DART Rail lines.

Box explores the story of Henry Box Brown, an abolitionist lecturer and magician who escaped slavery by mailing himself to freedom. He went on to become a famed magician; this world premiere features actual magic. See it through March 23 at Undermain Theatre, walkable from Baylor University Medical Center Station on the Green Line.

Into the Breeches! is a modern and moving comedy about how art and community reveal our boldest selves even in the darkest times. It’s 1942 and Oberon Playhouse’s director and leading men are off at war with the Axis. With the men overseas, it appears that the season must be cancelled. Until, that is, the women of the company see their chance to move from the sidelines to center stage and mount the first all-female production of Shakespeare’s Henry V. The play runs through March 22 at Irving Arts Center. You can get there on bus route 229, departing from the Orange Lines Dallas College North Lake Campus Station.

The Hat Box concerns two sisters who discover a hat box hidden in the back of their recently deceased father's closet. What they find inside leads to many surprising twists and turns. The new comedy plays through March 22 at Cox Playhouse. The venue is right across Haggard Park from Downtown Plano Station on the Red Line.

Hip Hop Orchestra Experience is a groundbreaking fusion of classical and hip-hop featuring Ensemble Mik Nawooj. Part concert, part dance party, and part journey through the underground scene, the unique production happens tonight only at Eisemann Center, right across the plaza from the Red Line’s Galatyn Park Station.

Friday, March 14-Saturday, March 15

The Great Junk Hunt is a roundup of curated vendors selling amazing vintage items. There are also cocktails and live music. The market takes place at Centennial Hall, walkable from Fair Park Station on the Green Line.

Saturday, March 15

Dallas St. Patrick’s Parade & Festivalis a beloved North Texas tradition and the largest Irish festival in the Southwest. The parade travels along Greenville from Blackwell Street to SMU Boulevard. It boasts nearly 100 floats, and there will also be food trucks and activities for all ages. Get to the fun by taking DART’s Red or Orange line to Lover’s Lane or SMU/Mockingbird station, the last also served by the Blue Line. Just look for thousands of people dressed in green.

Afterward, head to the St. Patrick’s Block Party, between Vickery Boulevard and Vanderbilt Avenue. The block party is one of Dallas’ biggest parties of the year. Get to the fun by taking the free shuttle from the upper level of SMU/Mockingbird Station that takes you to the Lower Greenville Avenue area and back.

Immersive Art by Pneuhaus is a public art experience that lets you step into a surreal world of color and form in Downtown Garland. The exhibition includes "Grove," an installation of towering light columns inspired by the hidden networks of forest roots. Enjoy this interactive experience in the Garland City Square, walkable from the Blue Line’s Downtown Garland Station.
