Til Midnight at the Nasher - July 2023

’til Midnight at the Nasher presents live outdoor concerts featuring regional talent, plus film screenings in the garden. You can also view the sculpture collection, as well grab some food or an adult beverage. Tonight, music is provided by Matt Tedder, Chaz Marie and Parker Ryan. They’re followed by a screening of Mary Poppins. The Nasher Sculpture Center is walkable from Pearl/Arts District Station on all four DART Rail lines, or from the M-Line trolley.

An Unfunny Evening with Tim Minchin and His Piano is a show that bills itself as “not a comedy gig,” but it’s hard to take that claim seriously. Minchin will perform songs drawn from his wide-ranging career in musical theater, TV and film writing, and studio recordings. See the performance at the Majestic Theater, a short walk from St. Paul Station on all four DART Rail lines.

Jimmy Buffet’s Escape to Margaritaville transports you to a tropical island getaway. The upbeat musical comedy tells the tale of a charming bartender and singer who falls for a more conventional-minded tourist.  The score features all the famous Jimmy Buffett classics. Experience it at The Firehouse Theatre, walkable from Farmers Branch Station on the Green Line.

Funny Girl has one of the most celebrated musical scores in musical theater. The plot follows a girl from the Lower East Side of Manhattan who dreams of a life in the theater. Spoiler: She gets famous. Catch the performance through Aug. 18 at Music Hall at Fair Park, a very short walk from the Green Line’s Fair Park Station.

Saturday, Aug. 17
The Roots come to Irving as part of their “Hip-Hop is the LOML” tour. The band has 14 albums’ worth of material, and they’ll be joined by Digable Planets. Catch them at the Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory, walkable from Irving Convention Center Station on the Orange Line.
