Nasher Sculpture Museum - Free First Saturdays

Theater, comedy and musical performances are all DARTable this weekend. Read on to find out more.

Friday, Aug. 2

Festival of Independent Theatres returns in a brand-new location, Theatre Three. There will be five performances there, plus another half-dozen in the downstairs space, Theatre Too, as well as cabaret and improv performances. See the performance through Aug. 24. The venue is easily accessible from the M-Line trolley.

Music Made Here is a concert Series featuring live performances in the newly renovated Downtown Garland Square. Along with the concerts, you can enjoy bites from local restaurants. This Friday night, catch a free performance by Red, a Taylor Swift Tribute. The square is a short walk from Downtown Garland Station on the Blue Line.

Blues Traveler and Big Head Todd & the Monsters bring their Blue Monsters Tour to Irving. Blues Traveler is supporting their 2023 album, Traveler’s Soul, while Big Head Todd and the Monsters is supporting their new album, Thunderbird. See the ’90s icons at The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory, walkable from the Orange Line’s Irving Convention Center Station. You can also take Bus Route 227.

Wrong Turn at Lungfish follows a blind and bitter former college professor and the streetwise young woman who volunteers to read to him in the hospital. The two go from animosity to friendship. See the play through Aug. 17 at Cox Playhouse. The venue is just across Haggard Park from Downtown Plano Station on the Red Line.

Saturday, Aug. 3

Airplane Airlines highlights commercial air travel in its more ridiculous aspects. Catch the evening of satirical sketch comedy at Dallas Comedy Club, walkable from the Green Line’s Baylor University Medical Center Station.

Iron & Wine comes to Dallas in support of the new album, Light Verse. See the show at the Majestic Theatre, just a few blocks from St. Paul Station on all four DART Rail lines.

The Nasher Sculpture Museum presents Free First Saturdays happening again this Saturday. Look, learn and love your time at the Nasher every first Saturday of the month. Bring the whole crew to create, discover and make new memories together. Each month features a rotating schedule of things to see and do. The event is free. The Nasher is walkable from St. Paul Station on all four DART Rail lines, or from the M-Line trolley.
