How DART Supports the Region as an International Hub New York, London, Singapore, and Tokyo, these top cities have to scoot over to make room for a new international hub: North Texas! Our region has grown and continues to grow in trade, commerce, business, and population; earning our spot in the international destination club. Besides business, culture, and commerce—what is another similarity that applies to the top cities of the world? You guessed it; first class public transportation systems. From Zurich to Tokyo to New York, these cities have broad, multi-modal public transportation systems that connect their region. DART is helping make North Texas into an international hub; supporting our business and international growth with large public transportation projects, like the Cotton Belt. DART Helps Make North Texas a Destination The Cotton Belt will help to support our growing region and maintain our standing as an international hub by:
  • Providing easy access to DFW Airport and international locations
The Cotton Belt will continue to support our city as an international gateway providing thousands of travelers with easy access to the region. Dallas-Fort Worth Airport recently reached a major milestone by offering a total of 200 nonstop destinations, and just recently added two additional international routes to Rome and Amsterdam. There will be 3.5 percent more visitors using DFW airport this summer season in comparison to last year and the Cotton Belt will help travelers hop off international flights and access the rest of North Texas.
  •  Supporting our growing population
Our area has grown and continues to grow into an international business hub.  Businesses are relocating to the region, spurring economic growth across North Texas. In fact, since 2010 70 companies have moved their headquarters to North Texas! The Cotton Belt will support this continued growth, making sure that as businesses relocate here, we have the public transportation infrastructure in place to make sure everyone can get to where they need to go across our region.
  • Easing congestion for the entire region
The Cotton Belt will provide another option for transportation.  While folks may normally drive, this regional rail will give more people the ability to choose how they would like to travel to their destination. The Cotton Belt will ease congestion for riders and non-riders alike; providing environmental as well as time saving benefits. The Cotton Belt will help support our growing, international city.  Transitioning to a world-class destination will depend on ease of access and transportation for commerce, business, and individuals around the region.
