DART’s front-line employees are essential to our region during these trying times. They’re also essential to our transit system every day. Meet John Tillotson Jr., DART Bus Dispatcher.

A note from John:

I arrive at work around 4 a.m., sit down at my console and start answering radio calls and assisting operators with route sign codes, detours and any road blockage along the route. When a bus breaks down, I try and get the service covered and a field supervisor in route. I then try and get another bus to replace that broken-down bus. If an accident takes place, I get all help in route. I then get medical assistance to those in need. It can be very hectic and stressful. But I love my job because I am a great listener and I love to help the bus operators, field supervisors, and any other customers I come in contact with.

I’ve been with DART for 31 years. I have a master’s degree in Christian Counseling and I am working on my MBA in Leadership. Plain and simple, I love helping others – because others have helped me.

My words of inspiration for others: Don't let it get to you. Together, we will get through this difficult time. Keep up the faith and God will take care of everything.
