The dedication of DART’s front-line employees helps keep our region moving. Meet Vanetta Alford, DART Transit Center Supervisor.

A note from Vanetta:

I’ve been with DART for more than 2 years. I love what I do, because I believe I was designed by God with a heart to serve; being able to help and lead daily in a positive way brings me joy.  My position allows me to interact with diverse cultures and personalities daily – from my coworkers to the general public. Every day is an opportunity to learn something new or see something different.

My day always starts with a smile. I typically get all my necessary paperwork completed, and then it’s off to engage with peers and the public as much as possible. I try make face-to-face contact with staff members on duty, just to make sure they are doing well. If they are stuffing bags with sanitizing wipe for the bus operators, then I’m stuffing bags with them. Most of all – under our current situation – I listen to their concerns, offer words of encouragement, and reassure them that they are valued and we are all in this together.

During this difficult time, let your faith be bigger than your fear. Tomorrow brings so many uncertainties, but just know that we will get through these troublesome times and we will learn from this. We will grow from this. We will survive this and come back better. Storms don’t last forever, the sun will shine again. Be thankful for the blessings we do have. Put positive energy out into the world and watch it follow right back to us all.
