DART’s “Stuff a Bus” event supports North Texans by providing socks and blankets to area nursing facilities – as well as unwrapped toys and canned food for children and families in need. But it’s not just DART that contributes to this yearly drive. You, our riders, are the biggest part of it.
On Dec. 14, we encourage you to drop off your donations from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Mockingbird Station. There, you’ll find a hard-to-miss, 40-foot-long “Stuff a Bus” in the parking lot. The goal: to fill the bus with donations.
KKDA “K-104” and KRNB “Smooth R&B 105.7” are DART’s partners in the event, and both will broadcast their morning shows live from Mockingbird Station. Santa Claus also will be there.
DART police officers and bus operators created and oversee the drive, which combines two efforts: Santa Cops and Comforting of the Souls, sponsored by the two groups respectively.
Last year, DART Police helped nearly 100 families (this year, their goal is 200). DART bus operations provided 2,000 pairs of socks and 850 blankets to 27 nursing facilities.
Mockingbird Station is at 5465 E. Mockingbird Lane, near the intersection of North Central Expressway. It’s served by DART Rail’s Red, Blue and Orange lines. We hope to see you there!
