The Deal on D2
DART has completed 10% of Preliminary Engineering on the project, which means the D2 Subway is one step closer to reality. This includes engineering planning on things like underground station architecture and the construction approach. In addition, DART is completing the environmental review process to address concerns such as safety, construction impact and noise. This work will continue into late 2019 and is an essential step before construction can begin. DART recently held a public meeting about the project development phase of the D2 Subway project – check out the meeting presentation here, or visit www.DART.org/D2 for more information.
Cotton Belt Chatter
Work on the Cotton Belt Regional Rail Project is finally underway, and we couldn’t be more excited! Work to get the project up and running began in February with DART’s Design-Builder commencing pre-design field activities along the length of the Cotton Belt corridor. Activities are expected to continue through June, and will allow the Design-Builder to advance the design that formed the basis of DART’s Final Environmental Impacts Statement (FEIS). Want more information? Stay tuned to DART Daily for regular updates and to check out our series on the Cotton Belt, Behind the Tracks.
