Mingle with cult film stars, meet your favorite artist, or just sit back and take it all in. There will be a few scary surprises in store, based on original material from American Gothic Press. The convention takes place at the Sheraton Dallas, 400 N. Embrace a blend of nature and live music on the shady Cat Green. There will be a special presentation of Wonders of the Wild, the dynamic, interactive wildlife show. Food, soft drinks, cold beer and wine will be available. Events and activities begin at 5 p.m., and the band starts around 7 p.m. The zoo is at 650 South R.L. Thornton Freeway, across from Dallas Zoo Station on the Red Line. dallaszoo.com Rowlett Memorial Day Celebration featuring Touch a Truck will happen from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Rowlett Community Centre at 5300 Main Street. This special day is a fun and educational opportunity for children of all ages to touch, climb on and explore over 25 trucks – a fire truck, ambulance, 18-wheeler, school bus and much more – lined up in the parking lot. It’s about a 20-minute walk from Downtown Rowlett Station on the Blue Line. www.ci.rowlett.tx.us The sounds of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra will fill Farmers Branch Historical Park at this year's annual Memorial Day event – Liberty Fest Presents: Stars and Strings.
