There’s another DARTable weekend in store – from free live music to one of the tastiest festivals of the year. Check them out:
Friday, June 9
The
Irving Concert Series features the Three Quarters Fast Jazz Band – in keeping with the theme of this year’s series, the music of New Orleans. Authentic New Orleans food will be on hand, too. The free concert happens at 7 p.m. at Whistlestop Plaza, near Downtown Irving/Heritage Crossing Station.
Fair Park Friday Night Jazz Concerts is a free series at the Old Mill Inn patio in Fair Park. Bandleader S-Ankh Rasa and his jazz group – the house band of nearby club Sandaga 813 – are the headliners. Food is available, as is beer and wine. The band is blowing from 5 until 8, making this the perfect segue form workweek to weekend.
Saturday, June 10
Taste of Dallas has hundreds of exhibitors and tons of local restaurants offering reduced-price samplings of their wares. This year’s event will be highlighted by the new BBQ, Burgers & Brews Experience, curated by Tim Byres of Smoke. It all happens in the Automobile Building in Fair Park, very near Fair Park Station.
The
Movie on the Square in Downtown Carrollton is
Moana, a film that can be enjoyed by all ages. Showtime is 8:30 p.m. in Downtown Carrollton Square, a short walk from Downtown Carrollton Station.
