DART broke ground on the new 26-mile Silver Line regional rail service during six ceremonies Thursday, Sept. 19.
The events took place across DART's historic Cotton Belt Corridor in Addison, Plano, Dallas, Carrollton and Richardson, and ended at DFW International Airport. Elected officials from these cities, as well as representatives from the cities of Coppell and Fort Worth, came to celebrate the upcoming service.

The $1.1 billion
Cotton Belt Corridor Silver Line Project is scheduled to open December 2022. The project will provide passenger rail connections and service that will improve mobility, accessibility and system linkages to major employment and activity centers in the northern part of the DART Service Area. The Silver Line will traverse a total of seven cities: Grapevine, Coppell, Dallas, Carrollton, Addison, Richardson and Plano.
