Big changes are coming to Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) fares starting March 1, 2025. These updates, approved by the DART Board of Directors last October, will make fares easier to understand while helping DART recover from lower revenue caused by the pandemic.
This is the first time DART has updated fares since 2018, and the changes will help the agency continue to provide safe, reliable, and convenient service for riders.
New 3-Hour Pass Makes It Simple
One of the most exciting updates is the introduction of a 3-hour pass, which replaces the Single Ride, AM Pass, PM Pass, and Midday Pass. The 3-hour pass costs $3 for adults and $1.50 for reduced fare riders and can be used at any time of day. It even includes transfers and GoLink service during the three-hour window.
Good news for frequent riders: the popular Day Pass will stay the same price at $6 for adult local fare and $3 for reduced fare riders.
Other updates include an increase in the local monthly pass price to $126 and the discontinuation of retail annual passes due to low demand.
Veterans and Assistance Program Discounts
DART is expanding its discount programs to include half-price fares for U.S. military veterans. Veterans can register for a reduced-fare DART GoPass® Tap photo ID to take advantage of this benefit.
For riders in qualifying assistance programs, the Discount GoPass Tap Card program is now permanent, making it easier to save on everyday rides.
Updates for Paratransit Riders
Paratransit fares will also see an adjustment. Starting in March, one-way paratransit rides will cost $3.50, and feeder service will increase to $1.00. These fare changes, originally approved in 2018, were delayed due to the pandemic.
Better Options for Employers, Schools, and Events
Some changes have already taken effect. As of January 1, 2025, Employer Pass Program participants can now pay monthly instead of upfront for an annual pass. This new option aligns with IRS monthly allowances and gives riders more flexibility.
Schools can now buy semester passes at a reduced rate for their students, and event organizers can purchase bulk passes for large gatherings in the Dallas service area at a discount.
