The 28 winners of DART’s 2017 Student Art Contest might just be the inspiration you need for a DARTable adventure.
On Saturday, the winners took to the stage and received recognition for their artwork during an
awards ceremony and reception at the Dallas Museum of Art’s Horchow Auditorium.
DART selected the winning pieces from more than 2,000 submissions throughout North Texas, and now the 28 young artists are among the few who can say they’ve exhibited original work at a major art museum.
The event brought in families, friends, teachers, members of the creative community and DART staff who showed support for these young people whose art best illustrated the theme, “The adventure starts here.”
NBC 5 news anchor Deborah Ferguson emceed the event, where the winners received prizes from more than 30 donors, including the Texas Rangers, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and the Perot Museum of Nature and Science.
As a special treat, the DMA displayed the 28 winning pieces on Level M2 of the museum from April 18-30, and invited the winners and their families to stay and explore the museum’s special exhibition,
México 1900–1950: Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, José Clemente Orozco, and the Avant-Garde, following the ceremony and reception.
Congratulations to all the young artists who gained recognition for #DARTStudentArt2017.
