Corny dogs, Big Tex and Midway rides! All the iconic elements of the State Fair of Texas® are back.
After a year’s absence, Big Tex is welcoming fairgoers with this year’s theme: “Howdy, Folks!” The 135-year tradition of family fun starts Sept. 24 and runs through Oct. 17.
If your plans include riding DART, here are some helpful tips for a smooth experience.
Take the Green Line
Skip traffic and parking expenses – take the Green Line, which drops you off right at the Main Gate (Fair Park Station) or a couple of blocks from Gate 6 near the Cotton Bowl (MLK, Jr. Station).
Park for free
Park for free at any one of DART’s Park & Ride stations. Each of DART’s four light rail lines has numerous points in downtown Dallas where you can transfer to the Green Line. And if you’re riding the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) or DCTA A-train, transfers are a snap – both connect directly to the Green Line at Victory Station.
Use contactless payment
DART encourages all riders to buy their passes with one of our contactless fare payment options – either the GoPass® app, GoPass Tap® card, or the new Contactless Payment option of using your contactless credit or debit card or contactless-enabled mobile device. These are the safest and best ways to purchase a pass so that you can avoid contact with surfaces that others may have touched.
Download the latest version of GoPass in the Apple App Store or Google Play. Purchase Discount Tap cards at 7-Eleven stores or other participating retailers. Visit GoPass.org to learn more.
Keep it safe
Masks are still required on all DART vehicles. If you forget yours, you’ll find free mask dispensers onboard. DART also provides hand sanitizer on all buses and trains. Remember, stay home if you are sick or have been exposed to COVID-19.
Know we're cleaning
Your safety and protection are top priorities at DART, which is why we will continue to follow the cleaning and disinfecting recommendations of local, state, and national health authorities, including the Texas Department of State Health Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
In addition to thorough nightly cleanings, DART buses and trains are also cleaned on a rotating basis throughout the day, focusing on high-touch surfaces such as handrails, door buttons, and grab rails.
