Enjoy a day filled with positive hip-hop, spoken word, storytelling and dance performances from local and national artists in a festival that merges African and American cultures.
The 42nd Annual Harambee Festival is a southern Dallas tradition that offers a safe alternative to Halloween and invites you to experience a fun-filled event the whole family can enjoy.
The event takes place Oct. 29 from noon-5 p.m. at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center, a six-minute walk from MLK, Jr. Station.
Ride DART to the event and enthrall yourself in a quilt exhibit, an African mask display and a variety of foods in the Harambee African Marketplace. The Arthello Beck, Jr. Watoto (children’s) Village will provide entertainment, educational games, painting, and safety and health information.
Harambee is an East African Swahili word meaning “let’s pull together.” Let DART pull you and your family together to enjoy a day of fun, culture and celebration.
