Dallas Black Dance Theatre, the city’s largest dance company, is one of North Texas’ cultural treasures. On Oct. 1-2, catch the troupe’s performance of DanceAfricaThis rhythmic extravaganza celebrates the land of the drum. By turns entrancing and energizing, the immersive rhythms are as life-affirming as they are irresistible.

Feel the African culture flowing throughout the evening of dance, which includes performances by DBDT’s Allegro, Senior, and Junior performing ensembles. Guest artist Bandan Koro African Drum and Dance Ensemble creates breathtaking drumscapes while sharing African traditions and history. The program will take place at Moody Performance Hall in the Dallas Arts District, a short walk from Pearl/Arts District Station on all four DART Rail lines. And on Saturday, Oct. 2, don’t miss the DanceAfrica Festival & Marketplace at Klyde Warren Park. The free festival takes place from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and features stage performances, food, vendors, and family fun. Both Pearl/ Arts District and St. Paul stations will put you within about five blocks of the park.
