The Full Monty opens tonight at the Dupree Theatre in the Irving Arts Center, and it runs through May 26. The popular musical comedy is about a group of unemployed, jealous steelworkers who come up with a novel way to make money and win their wives’ affections. You can get to the arts center by taking Bus Route 401 from North Lake College Station or Bus Route 505 from University of Dallas Station, and get off and MacArthur and Finley.

If you’re a fan of folk-rock and alternative country, you’re in for a treat this weekend.  The Spring Singer-Songwriter Live Music Series at CityLine happens in the plaza area of the growing development near CityLine/Bush Station. On Friday evening, Raquel Lindeman entertains; on Saturday, it’s Morgan Alana Taylor. You can listen from one of the numerous restaurant patios on State Street, or grab a to-go meal and make a picnic of it in the plaza.

For a very different musical experience, take the Blue Line to the Granville Arts center next to Downtown Garland Station. There, pianist Alex McDonald joins the Garland Symphony Orchestra for Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 2 in B flat Major.

Shopping? Food? Music? They’ve got it all at the Rowlett Main Street Market. There are more than 50 vendor booths, two local shops (Farmhouse Living and Girlfriends Boutique), food trucks and two great restaurants (Bankhead Brewing and El Centro Mexican). A day’s worth of live music is capped off by the pop trio Castro the Band. The market takes place on the plaza in the 3900 block of Main Street, a block from Downtown Rowlett Station.

The popular Homegrown Music and Arts Festival – voted "Best Festival" in the Dallas Observer Music Awards – returns to Main Street Garden for another day of art and music featuring both Texas and national acts. The lineup includes Explosions in the Sky, The Black Angels, Roky Erickson, Medicine Man Revival, and many more. The park is a short walk from St. Paul Station; the D-Line will get you there, as well.

 It’s Mother’s Day, and you can Treat Mom Like Royalty at the Reunion Tower GeO-Deck – not only is it one of the best views in Dallas, but she’ll also get a keepsake sparkly red rose and crown, a digital photo and a free 5x7 photo to remember the day. It’s all included with a general admission ticket purchase. Reunion Tower is accessible via a pedestrian tunnel from Union Station, served by the Red Line, the Blue Line, the Dallas Streetcar and the D-Link.

Today’s matinee is the last performance of Dallas Theater Center’s production of The Trials of Sam Houston. On the eve of the state’s secession in 1861, Governor Sam Houston is torn between loyalties, and he weighs his devastating choice. While wrestling with his decision, he tells his office clerk of a time when he himself stood trial. The performance is at the Kalita Humphreys Theater. Get there by taking bus routes 36 or 409 from Cityplace/Uptown Station and getting off at Blackburn and Turtle Creek.
