There’s a lot of comedy and theater up and down the DART Rail lines this weekend, as well as some unique offerings including snow tubing. Yep, you read that right! Read on to see where DART can take you.

Friday, March 20

Shemekia Copeland has released a dozen albums in her career, and the Chicago Tribune calls her “the greatest female blues vocalist working today.” She is joined by Texas blues-rock singer, songwriter and guitarist Ally Venable at the Granville Arts Center. That’s right next to Downtown Garland Station on the Blue Line.

David Spade became a household name as a cast member on Saturday Night Live, and he’s been nominated for an Emmy Award, a Golden Globe, and American Comedy Award. He comes tonight to the Majestic Theatre, a very short walk from St. Paul Station on the Red, Blue, Green and Orange lines.

Bloody Hammer Girl follows a bright-eyed, optimistic young lady who discovers a violent, secret tradition in her village. It forces her to confront her own darkness, and she must find her way out of a nightmarish scenario. See it through March 7 at Ochre House Theater, a very short walk from the Green Line’s Fair Park Station.

The Great Gatsby is, of course, based on the great novel. Wealth, tragedy, and the Roaring Twenties come to life on stage. Featuring great choreography and a jazzy score, the play runs through March 1 at the Music Hall at Fair Park. Get there by taking the Green Line to Fair Park Station.

The Skin of Our Teeth is the Thornton Wilder classic about the Antrobus family in fictional Excelsior, New Jersey. The epic comedy-drama follows the family through all manner of calamities, which they get through – well -- by the skin of their teeth. See it through Mach 8 at Undermain Theatre, walkable from the Green Line’s Baylor University Medical Center Station.

Friday, March 20-Saturday, March 21

Cristina Mariani is a quirky stand-up comedian from Austin who has opened for some of the bigger names in comedy (think Tom Segura, Ron White). Catch her sometimes-dark humor at Hyena’s Comedy Nightclub, located right next to the mezzanine at Mockingbird Station – served by the Red, Blue, and Orange lines.

Jessica Fichot is a Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter who creates a multicultural blend of French chanson, Shanghai jazz, gypsy swing and international folk.  She is joined by Annie Zhou. Experience it at the Eisemann Center, just across the plaza from the Red Line’s Galatyn Park Station.

Frost Fest offers free, family-friendly winter fun to Las Colinas. Irving! There are snow tubing hills, snow play area, train rides, and much more – including a variety of food vendors. The winter wonderland takes place at Levy Events Plaza, walkable from Las Colinas Urban Center Station on the Orange Line.
