At the top of a brand new year, many DARTable performances and events await. Read on to see where DART can take you this weekend.
Friday, Jan. 5
Deep Ellum First Fridays features promotional events such as a “Murals & Margs Tour,” plus a variety of Deep Ellum art, music, food and shopping, shopping, and history. The event takes place throughout the neighborhood, accessible by the Green Line’s Baylor University Medical Center Station.
Death Express! follows the comically noir detective Harry Hunsacker as he and his assistant find themselves trapped on a train headed for murder. The production is done in “Living Black & White™,” in which the lighting design mimics an old-time black-and-white movie. Catch the murder and mayhem through Jan. 21 at the Eisemann Center, right across the plaza from Galatyn Park Station on the Red Line.
Friday, Jan. 5-Sunday, Jan. 7
"Elgar Cello Concerto," Dallas Symphony Orchestra features conductor Marie Jacquot and cellist Maximilian Hornung. Selections include Schmidt's Intermezzo from Notre Dame, Elgar's Concerto for Cello and Orchestra, and Beethoven's Symphony No. 4. See the performance at the Meyerson Symphony Center. You can walk to the venue from Pearl/Arts District Station on all four DART Rail lines, or from the M-Line Trolley.
Saturday, Jan. 6
Pink Floyd Spectacular is a multimedia show featuring the original music of Pink Floyd, plus the by cutting-edge laser, lighting, and video effects that the band’s performances were known for. Experience the performance at House of Blues, walkable from West End Station on all four DART Rail lines.
Sunday, Jan. 7
Groundswell: Women of Land Art features 12 artists involved in the land art movement. This Sunday is the exhibition’s closing day, so catch it while you can at the Nasher Sculpture Center. The museum is walkable from St. Paul Station on all four DART Rail lines, or from the M-Line trolley.
Monday, Jan. 8
The CFP Championship Watch Party lets you watch the big game on a 104′ (yes, that’s feet) media wall. Bring your game face, jersey, lawn chairs, blankets and friends and family to the AT&T Discovery District. The venue is an easy walk from Akard Station on all four DART Rail lines. Kick off is at 7:30 p.m.
