There’s a nice, sunny weekend in store, which should be perfect for taking the Green Line to the last weekend of the State Fair of Texas. Elsewhere, there’s plenty of DARTable entertainment options. Jump in to see this weekend’s lineup.

Friday, Oct. 20-Saturday, Oct. 21

Glow Canalside Celebration in Las ColinasBen Folds joins the Dallas Symphony Orchestra for two nights. His genre-defying music has included everything from pop to a concerto. His last album went to No. 1 on the Billboard classical chart. See him at the Meyerson Symphony Center, walkable from Pearl/Arts District Station on all four DART Rail lines, or from the M-Line trolley.

Glow Canalside Celebration is a celebration of Las Colinas’ 50th Anniversary. The event blends light, water, and sound for a dazzling display of interactive light installations, water-based performances, and walkways synced to music. Get to the canal by taking the Orange Line to Las Colinas Urban Center Station.

Friday, Oct. 20-Sunday, Oct. 22

Dallas Fan Festival offers autograph and photo sessions with fan-favorite guests, celebrity panels, costumed characters, shopping, and more. Geek out on all things pop culture at the Irving Convention Center, walkable from the Orange Line’s Irving Convention Center Station.

Saturday, Oct. 21

Pawtoberfest is a day in the park with craft beer, food trucks, live music, and vendors. Dogs are the guest of honor – only service animals can ride on DART, but it’s a fun way to spend a fall afternoon. You can get to Hiffhines Park by hopping on board Bus Route 243, departing from Arapaho Center on the Red Line.

Bloomin Bluegrass FestBloomin’ Bluegrass Festival is an award-winning hootenanny at Farmers Branch Historical Park. Enjoy all-day bluegrass music, a kids’ zone, a crafts marketplace and more. The musical lineup includes the Del McCoury Band, Ricky Skaggs and the Kentucky Thunder, Texas & Tennessee, and many others. The park is a short walk south of Farmers Branch Station on the Green Line.

An Evening with Lucia and Leo features Lucia Micarelli, a violinist, singer and actress who has performed with Josh Groban, Barbra Streisand, and Jethro Tull. Leo Amuedo is a Grammy-nominated guitarist who has worked with Stevie Wonder and Neil Diamond. Together, they take you through a fascinating musical journey that fuses classical, jazz, Brazilian, folk and Americana. Experience their music at Garland’s Plaza Theatre, a short walk from Downtown Garland Station on the Blue Line.

Addison After Dark celebrates the arrival of fall with a Harvest Hayday theme. There are food trucks, live music, and something called “pumpkin games.” DART will also have a booth at the event from 6-10 p.m.! Come celebrate with us for our 40th anniversary! We will be having fun games and prizes as well as promotional giveaways. It all happens in Addison Circle Park, just up the street from Addison Transit Center – served by DART Bus Routes 22, 200, 202, 227, 229, 235, 236, 237, 238, 239, 240, and 305.

Sunday, Oct. 22

The Great Create transforms the Nasher Garden into an interactive, art-filled space for kids and families. Children can put their hands to work in engaging projects led by artists from North Texas and beyond, as well as enjoy live entertainment and kid-friendly food. The Nasher Sculpture Center is walkable from St. Paul Station on all four DART Rail lines, or the M-Line Trolley.

Step AfrikaStep Afrika! is one of the top ten African American dance companies in the United States. Their show blends percussive dance styles practiced by historically African American fraternities and sororities; traditional African dances; and an array of contemporary dance and art forms. See the performance at Richardson’s Eisemann Center, just across the plaza from the Red Line’s Galatyn Park Station.
