It’s your last chance! This is the final weekend of the State Fair of Texas, which concludes after Sunday. If you haven’t been yet, you can either go this weekend or turn in your Texan card. The Green Line to Fair Park Station is, of course, the best way to get there.

Elsewhere, DART can take you to plenty of entertaining places, including the biggest international festival in the region. Read on to see what’s happening on what promises to be a very fall-like weekend.

Friday, Oct. 16

Jazz at the Museum features smooth sounds in a lounge-inspired setting. Enjoy light bites and a full bar along with the acoustic gypsy sounds of String Theory Manouche. The jazzy evening happens at the Dallas Museum of Art, walkable from St. Paul Station on the Red, Blue, Green, and Orange lines, or from the M-Line Trolley.

’til Midnight at the Nasher is a great monthly event with live music and film screenings, along with food, drink, and, of course, world-class sculpture. This evening, the musical headliner is blues rocker Danny Joseph, and the movie is Practical Magic. The Nasher Sculpture Center is walkable from Pearl/Arts District Station on the Red, Blue, Green, and Orange lines, or from the M-Line Trolley.

October Movie Nights features free outdoor screenings of scary movies. Tonight, catch an ’80s classic if ever there was one, Poltergeist. The event takes place at Main Street Garden, a short walk from St. Paul Station on the Red, Blue, Green, and Orange lines.

Friday, Oct. 16-Sunday, Oct. 18

DIFF Shorts Film Festival screens more than 100 films, presented in 16 themed blocks. You can also participate in filmmaker Q&As, along with industry panels, red-carpet events, and receptions. The festival, conducted by the Dallas International Film Festival, happens at the Angelika Film Center, practically next door to SMU/Mockingbird Station on the Red, Blue, and Orange lines.

Saturday, Oct. 17

The Plano International Festival brings the world to downtown Plano. Experience more than 100 cultures through live performances, food trucks, art, cultural displays, and activities for all ages. The festival begins with the area's only outdoor naturalization ceremony, welcoming 100 new citizens to the United States. The largest and longest-running multicultural festival in North Texas welcomes thousands of visitors each year to Haggard Park. That’s right next to the Red Line’s Downtown Plano Station.

Gov’t Mule and Ziggy Marley come to Irving as co-headliners. The Southern rock jam-band and legacy reggae performer aren’t such unlikely allies – in fact, they’ve dubbed their tour Dreaming the Same Dream. Catch it at The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory, walkable from Irving Convention Center Station on the Orange Line.

Weezer comes to Dallas in support of their new album, Weezer (aka the Gold Album). Over their 30-plus year career, the band has been described as alternative rock, power pop, emo, nerd rock, and more. Will the real Weezer please stand up? They’ll do just that, plus  play a set, at the American Airlines Center, served by Victory Station. That’s on the Green and Orange lines, as well as the TRE.

Neon Nostalgic plays all the ’80s hits, with a twist: Each song is performed in perfect sync with the original music video, played behind the band on a big screen. The event is even hosted by original MTV VJs Mark Goodman and Alan Hunter. Song selections  include memorable classics from The Cure, Prince, Simple Minds, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Bon Jovi, U2, INXS… if you recognize all those, you’re probably Gen X, and you’ll probably want to go to the Eisemann Center this evening. It’s right across the plaza from the Red Line’s Galatyn Park Station.
