Friday, June 16 

The Music Man follows a fast-talking traveling salesman as he cons the people of River City, Iowa. His plans to skip town with the cash get nixed when he falls in love and becomes a respectable citizen. The classic musical opens tonight at Granville Arts Center and runs through June 25. The venue is right next to the Blue Line’s Downtown Garland Station.

Pride Block Party is the Dallas Arts District’s annual Pride celebration. It takes place throughout the neighborhood – notably, at the Dallas Museum of Art, the Nasher Sculpture Center, and the Crow Museum of Asian Art. It’s all a short walk from Pearl/Arts District station on all four DART Rail lines, or from the M-Line trolley.

Lobby Hero Jeff concerns a young security guard trying to get his life together after he’s thrown out of the navy. When he gets drawn into a murder investigation, truth becomes elusive, and justice proves costly. See the play at Cox Playhouse through June 24. The theater is just across Haggard Park from the Red Line’s Downtown Plano Station.

Angela Aguilar has released three albums, plus a couple of EPs. See the Mexican singer at The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory, walkable from Irving Convention Center Station on the Orange Line. You can also take Bus Route 227.

Goat Yoga lets you get your yoga on while a tribe of pet goats graze, jump around, and maybe even climb on you. The event happens at Addison Circle Park from 9-10 a.m. The park is just up the street from Addison Transit Center – served by DART Bus Routes 22, 200, 202, 227, 229, 235, 236, 237, 238, 239, 240, and 305.

Flea Harvey's is a monthly pop-up market at Lee Harvey’s featuring over 17 local vendors selling vinyl, vintage clothes, art, and more. A DJ is on hand to supply the tunes, and Lee Harvey's serves breakfast tacos and mimosas till 2 p.m. You can walk to the flea market from Cedars Station on the Red and Blue Lines.

Jill Scott has released five albums, as well as appearing in numerous films. She comes to the Music Hall at Fair Park to celebrate the 23rd anniversary of her debut album. The venue is a short walk from Fair Park Station on the Green Line.

Rise Up: Stonewall and the LGBTQ Rights Movement is an exhibit at the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum that marks the 50th anniversary of the police raid of the Stonewall Inn in New York City. It was a pivotal moment in the LGBTQ rights movement in the United States.

Through powerful artifacts, images, and historic publications, Rise Up describes other key moments in LGBTQ history up to the present day. Sunday is the exhibit’s last day – so if you haven’t seen it, take any DART Rail line to west End Station. The museum is a couple of blocks away.
