Musical theater lovers are in luck this weekend, with several Broadway hits coming to DARTable venues. There’s a lot more, of course. Read on to find out where DART can take you. 

Friday, July 21 

Dallas Arts District Pride Block Party includes pride-themed tours, performances, films, artists, gourmet food trucks, drag shows, informational tables, activities, guided tours, and more. The Dallas Arts District is walkable from Pearl/Arts District Station on all four DART Rail lines. 

’til Midnight at the Nasher presents live outdoor concerts and film screenings. You can also take tours and view the permanent collection and special exhibitions. You’ll find bar service and food for purchase, as well. Tonight, Bleach & Friends perform, followed by a Pride After Dark Dancer Party with DJ Natural Hiiigh. There will also be a screening of Rent. The Nasher Sculpture Center is walkable from St. Paul Station on all four DART Rail lines, or from the M-Line trolley. 

Michael Longfellow is a cast member of Saturday Night Live. He performs tonight and tomorrow, Saturday, June 22, at Dallas Comedy Club. You can walk there from Baylor University Medical Center on the Green Line. 

Hairspray takes place in in 1960s Baltimore, where 16-year-old Tracy Turnblad sets out to dance her way onto a local American Bandstand-like TV show. Will her dreams come true? Find out through June 30 at the Music Hall at Fair Park. That’s a short walk from Fair Park Station on the Green Line 

Cats hardly needs an introduction – it’s one of the biggest hits in theatrical history. Catch Repertory Company Theatre’s production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s classic through June 30 at Courtyard Theater. That’s right across Haggard Park from the Red Line’s Downtown Plano Station. 

Aladdin features a revamped plot with a bilingual script. The story begins centuries ago, when the royalty of Agrabah spoke one language, and the citizens another. When the rebellious princess, Jazmin, meets the delinquent Aladdin, they work to transcend the barriers between them. The production runs through July 7 at The Firehouse Theatre in Farmers Branch.

Excision comes to Irving in support of his new album, Bass to the Dome. Catch the Canadian dubstep producer at The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory. The venue is walkable from Irving Convention Center Station on the Orange Line. 

Saturday, June 22 

Black Music Month Family Weekend features Black-owned food trucks and a market of Black-owned businesses with gifts and souvenirs. Of course, there are also plenty of Black musicians. Experience it at Sammons Park, in the heart of the Dallas Arts District. The venue is walkable from Pearl/Arts District Station on all four DART Rail lines. 

Flea Harvey's is a monthly pop-up market with nearly 20 local vendors selling everything from vinyl to art to vintage clothes. DJ WildSide spins tunes all day, and Lee Harvey's serves breakfast tacos and mimosas. Check out the event at Lee Harvey’s, walkable from Cedars Station on the Red and Blue lines.  

Mockingbird Station Summer Classical Music Seriesbrings free musical performances to the open-air amphitheater outside the Angelika Film Center. The performance space is right next to SMU/Mockingbird Station on all four DART Rail lines.
