It’s a jam-packed weekend, with events of all shapes and sizes taking place along the DART system. Read on to see where DART can take you.

Through Sunday, Sept. 11

The Bridges of Madison County  is a play based on the best-selling novel and set in the American heartland. A beautiful Italian woman who married an American soldier is left alone on the farm for four days. A ruggedly handsome photographer shows up out of nowhere, and bridges are crossed. See the performance at WaterTower Theatre in Addison, a short walk from Addison Transit Center, served by numerous bus routes.

Friday, Sept. 9

20 Years in 20 Minutes  highlights the Eisemann Center’s 20th anniversary by exploring the institution’s impact on our region’s cultural life. The experience is designed by the 3D Studio at The University of Texas at Dallas School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology, which explores art, design, and technology through intensive project-based studio practice. The event opens Friday night and runs through Sept. 30. The Eisemann Center is right across the plaza from the Red Line’s Galatyn Park Station.

The Boho Market at CityLine features locally and ethically sourced vendors with vintage, handcrafted and fair-trade products. Get there by taking the Red Line to CityLine/Bush Station.

Carnival! is Garland Civic Theatre’s production of the classic musical about a naïve French girl infatuated with a troubled puppeteer in a traveling show. It’s packed with catchy tunes. The play opens Friday night and runs through Sept. 25 at Granville Arts Center, right next to Downtown Garland Station on the Red Line.

On Stage at Heritage hosts a car show featuring more than 60 vehicles – plus food trucks and live music from country-blues vocalist Chaz Marie. The event takes place at Irving’s Heritage Park, a short walk from Downtown Irving/Heritage Crossing Station on the Trinity Railway Express (TRE).

Movies on Main is a free movie series under the stars in Downtown Rowlett. Friday night will feature Encanto, the 2021 animated film from Disney about a magical family in Colombia. Get there by taking the Blue Line to Downtown Rowlett Station.

Saturday, Sept. 10

Family Weekends at AT&T Performing Arts Center features activities for children such as face painting, balloon artists, temporary tattoos, a petting zoo, and more. Families can play lawn games, a round of mini-golf, or cool off and splash around. The Dallas Zoo is bringing an Animal Adventure program featuring various ambassador animals including birds, mammals and reptiles. The fun takes place at Sammons Park, walkable from Pearl/Arts District Station on all four DART Rail lines.

Bridges Collaboration Festival is a presentation of the Garage Arts Project featuring four collaborative, multidisciplinary performances. Experience the festival at ArtCentre of Plano, right across Haggard Park from the Red Line’s Downtown Plano Station.

Denton Drive Live is a terrific free concert series in Farmers Branch. This Saturday night’s program has a Tejano flare, with Lara Latin and headliners Los Texmaniacs. The performance takes place at The Grove, a short walk from the Green Line’s Farmers Branch Station.

Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations  follows The Temptations’ extraordinary journey. The Broadway musical features the smooth dance moves and silky harmonies that made the band famous. See the musical through Sept. 18 at The Music Hall at Fair Park, a short walk from Fair Park Station on the Green Line.

Saturday, Sept. 10- Sunday, Sept. 11

Hispanic Heritage Celebration features live entertainment, food, vendors and cooking demonstrations at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. A highlight is the Quinceañera Fashion Show, which happens on Saturday.
