For a deep dive into Latino history, The Dallas Museum of Art is a great place to immerse yourself. The Ancient American collection represents Mexico, Guatemala, Panama, Colombia and Peru, among others. It’s just a few blocks north of St. Paul Station on all four DART Rail lines.

Friday, Sept. 16 
Hispanic Heritage Fiesta and Mercado happens in the AT&T Discovery District on Friday, Sept. 16. Shop from local Hispanic and Latino vendors and dance to mariachis with Anita Martinez Ballet Folklorico, one of Dallas’ flagship cultural institutions. There’s also a DJ, and later, live music at Jaxon Beer Garden. The district is a short walk from Akard Station on all four DART Rail lines.

Celebrate Mexican Independence Day 470 feet above Dallas! Reunion Tower has partnered with the talented Las Estrellas de Tejas for a special performance high above the city. You can buy general admission tickets to the Reunion Tower on their website or in person. Reunion Tower is a short walk away from Union Station on the Red and Blue Lines. You can also take the Trinity Railway Express (TRE).

Selena is the acclaimed biopic of the iconic Tejano singer starring Jennifer Lopez. Downtown Dallas Inc. presents a special movie showing in celebration of Mexican Independence Day at Main Street Garden on Friday, Sept. 16. The screening starts at 7:30 p.m. Feel free to bring blankets, pillows, and refreshments from your favorite downtown businesses. The park is a short walk from St. Paul Station on all four DART Rail lines.

The Latino Cultural Center, just steps from the Green Line’s Deep Ellum Station, tells the story of Hispanic heritage through both visual and performing arts. The free institution hosts tons of events throughout the year. On Friday, Sept. 16, catch Flor, Canto y Grito!, a celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month that includes food, drink, poetry, music and dance.

Viva Farmers Branch is a Hispanic and Latin heritage celebration held at the Farmers Branch Historical Park on Saturday, Sept. 24 for a Hispanic and Latin heritage celebration. Festivities will be from 6-10 p.m. with entertainment including live music by Bidi Bidi Banda, Lara Latin & Mariachi Mi Tierra. Event goers will also enjoy Folklorico dancing, Charro Roping, Loteria and activities for the whole family! Admission is free and blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged. Farmers Branch Historical Park is a few blocks from Farmers Branch Station on the Green Line.
