With the theme “My Next Stop Is ___,” 894 kindergarten through twelfth-grade students from 133 schools and organizations participated in DART’s 2019 Student Art Contest to help promote the use of public transportation.
DART held a reception at the Dallas Museum of Art April 4 to honor the student winners. You can find the winners’ artwork on display at the museum through April 28.
Sarah Thigpen, a ninth grader from Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, in Dallas ISD, took home Best of Show and received a $1,000 cash prize from Dallas Contemporary.
Over the next year, a DART bus will display Thigpen’s winning piece as it travels throughout the agency’s 13-city service area. The bus is the first ever to be wrapped completely highlighting the art competition.
