1903 - The Williamsburg Bridge opened in New York City. It opened as the largest suspension bridge on Earth and remained the largest until 1924. It was also the 1st major suspension bridge to use steel towers to support the main cable.

The goal of the Lone Star Rail District is to have passenger service from Georgetown all the way south to San Antonio. Some people who drive I-35 said it would help congestion.
The black Lab bravely leapt onto the tracks at a Manhattan subway platform Tuesday after his blind owner lost consciousness and tumbled in front of an oncoming train.
Cecil Williams, 61, and Orlando both escaped serious injury when the train passed over top of them — a miraculous end to a harrowing ordeal that began when Williams began to feel faint on his way to the dentist.
In the 2013 rankings of Best Places to Work released today, the U.S. Department of Transportation is ranked as the 8th best among large federal agencies. This is up one notch from 2012 and marks the continued success of a deliberate turnaround underway since ranking last in the 2009 survey.
