Please cover your face.
DART strongly recommends that passengers wear cloth face coverings on transit vehicles and in public settings in addition to practicing social distancing measures.
Recent studies into the spread and transmission of the coronavirus by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have found that the use of cloth face coverings can potentially slow the transmission of the virus and prevent people who have COVID-19, but are not yet showing symptoms, from unknowingly spreading it to others.
Cloth face coverings can be fashioned at a low cost from ordinary household items and materials and should be worn as an extra measure of protection and added to your everyday preventative habits including enhanced hygiene practices and social distancing techniques. You can find additional information on making your own cloth face covering on the
CDC website.
Additional recommendations from the CDC about the use of cloth face coverings include:
- Cloth face coverings should not be placed on young children under age 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance.
- Do NOT use a facemask meant for a healthcare worker. The cloth face coverings recommended are not surgical masks or N-95 respirators. Those are critical supplies that must continue to be reserved for healthcare workers and other medical first responders.
- Continue to keep about 6 feet between yourself and others. The cloth face cover is not a substitute for social distancing.
