Following a comprehensive review and analysis of its fare policy, DART has proposed a new, simplified structure for fares. We need your input to help inform the DART team and the DART Board of Directors as they consider these changes.

On August 27, 2024, DART will hold a public hearing on the proposal to amend the DART fare structure. If approved, the fare changes will go into effect March 1, 2025.

The major changes involve simplifying the fare structure:

  • The single ride (bus and GoLink only), AM, PM, and midday passes will be replaced by one standard 3-Hour Pass that costs $3 for full fare and $1.50 for reduced fare.
  • The cost of a day pass will remain the same at $6 for full fare and $3 for reduced fare.
  • Riders will need to purchase a day pass, or use a payment type with fare capping, to ensure they do not pay more than $6 per day.
  • The cost of a monthly pass will increase to $126 for full fare and $63 for reduced fare.
  • The retail annual pass will be discontinued.

Other changes under consideration include:

  • A new discount program for Veterans who register for a reduced-fare GoPass Tap card.
  • The Discount GoPass® Tap card program for qualified low-income customers, currently a pilot program, would become permanent. *
  • Incentivizing bulk sales for special events, corporate, and educational institution programs through a tiered discount structure.
  • Offering a monthly payment option for the Corporate Annual Pass program. *
  • Expanding the education institution bulk sales discount program to cover elementary schools. *

*Changes associated with calendar year-based programs such as corporate, educational institution, and low-income fare programs would be effective January 1, 2025.

Why are you eliminating the AM/PM pass?

We heard feedback from our riders that it was confusing to figure out which pass to buy among the variety of passes available for different parts of the day. The new fare structure simplifies our daily fare options into either a day pass or a 3-hour pass that can be applied any time of day.

How will I be able to voice my opinion on the proposed fare changes?
