Instead, this is one of DART's old 40-foot Nova buses that's beginning its second life in Lubbock. DART began using these buses in the late 1990s and continued to use them until few years ago when we began replacing our fleet with compressed natural gas buses from North American Bus Industries, based out of Alabama. As the saying goes, in with the new, out with the old. DART auctioned off the old fleet of buses through LoneStarAuctioneers.com. In this case, Citibus in Lubbock bought six of our buses late last year to put back into service transporting Texas Tech students and Lubbock residents. Other transit agencies aren't the only ones buying our old fleet. A scuba park in Athens, Texas bought a bus years ago to sink it to the bottom of a lake for scuba exploration.
