Don’t miss this year’s Best Buddies Friendship Walk on Saturday, April 17. The fun event supports inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This walk is the biggest of its kind in the country, with over 40,000 walkers from coast to coast.
Your participation makes a difference. Any funds you raise will directly support Best Buddies – an organization devoted to helping people with IDD form friendships, improve communication skills, secure jobs, and enjoy a more independent life. Best Buddies is affiliated with the Special Olympics.
Last year, the event was held virtually due to COVID-19 concerns. This year, participants are encouraged to venture outdoors, but to stick to small groups and observe common-sense health guidelines. The weather promises to be mild – it’s April, after all, which also happens to be National Autism Month. After your walk, you and your Walk Team can join in a special drive-through celebration at Dr. Pepper Ballpark in Frisco.
DART is proud to partner with Best Buddies. To find out how you can participate and contribute to an awesome cause, visit the friendship walk website. You can also learn more on Facebook.
