DART joins Earth Hour efforts for seventh year

Traveling-Man-night-LRT Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) is turning off all non essential lights at its headquarters building, 1401 Pacific Avenue, Saturday, March 29 between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. DART is making a difference each day with its solar-powered bus shelters, zero-emissions trains, and clean-fuel buses and has been an Earth Hour participant since the campaign began in Australia in 2007. In 2013 a new fleet of 40-foot compressed natural gas (CNG) buses began replacing DART’s older diesel models that had reached the end of their useful life. The CNG fleet will total 459 by 2016. Earth Hour, the annual global event where hundreds of millions of households, businesses and governments around the world turn off their lights for one hour, encourages positive green initiatives for the environment.
