Break out the big belt buckle, pull up your boots, and ride on over (via DART, naturally) to the 32nd Texas Black Invitational Rodeo. Approximately 300 cowboys and cowgirls will compete for cash in all the classic rodeo events: bull riding, roping, barrel racing, a relay race and more. It’s fast-paced family fun that highlights the contributions African Americans made to the American West.
There will also be kids’ activities, trick lasso performances and music. The whole thing kicks off with a Grand Entry Parade at 6 p.m., and the rodeo starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are only $10; reserved VIP box seats go for $25. Presented by the African American Museum of Dallas, the popular rodeo takes place at the Fair Park Coliseum, a short walk from Fair Park Station on the Green Line.
