Whether you’re riding the bus to work or are taking the train to school, DART’s officers strive to meet you where you are and ensure your community is a safe place to live, work and play – that’s what community policing in action looks like.
Today, the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office), a component within the U.S. Department of Justice, announced DART among the 12 winners of its third annual “Community Policing in Action” photo contest.
DART’s Lupe Hernandez Jr. captured the winning photo of a DART officer kneeling with a child at Rosa Parks Plaza.
As a prize, the COPS Office will feature the 12 winning photos on its website and social media accounts for one month in 2017. Also, the COPS Office e-newsletter, the
Community Policing Dispatch, will highlight the winning agencies in its monthly articles.
